Our "off week" with field trips

This is our "off" week in our 3 on, 1 off schedule. We have gone on two field trips this week though.

The first (pix at the bottom) was to a small airport. We got to see the private planes in the hanger, the mechanical shop, talk with EMTs that work on an Emergency Transport helicopter and sit in small planes that are used for instruction.

The second field trip was called "Ravenous Raptors". We learned how to use a field guide (which my boys have already been doing for several years) and learned much about owls and hawks. They had a live Red-tailed Hawk and Barred Owl. It was really a very interesting trip. We also got to see owl pellets and to try to discover what was in them (bones, fur, etc.).

So are the boys convinced yet that they have as much as fun as psers?

I don't think so! LOL

I still have to remind then when they are working and the psers are out of school, that WE get LOTS of time off all the time!

They both said the bird class was boring....but in the car we talked alot about it and they sounded like they enjoyed it.

LOL - the word "boring" or any derivative thereof are not allowed in my home or in our family. We *loved* that class when we took it a couple of weeks ago. We all thought it was great. The boys loved seeing the red-tailed hawk and barred owl live. I was very impressed with the class.

Well, see....they do it all the time...

Me:"Wasn't that fun?"
Them: "No."

BUT the WHOLE time they would be laughing and enjoying it and you could tell!

I thought it was great and we had a nice conversation about it on the way home.
